Check your local Parks & Recreation Departments for Summer Programs for your children. Especially if you live in an inner city. There are so many classes, sports teams, field trips, summer camps and more available to you at low to NO COST. There are also Scholarship Programs available to cover some or ALL of the cost if your family meets the income guidelines! Many people let the funds for these resources go to waste. Make sure you check the website of the Parks & Recreation Department of the City you live in today as there is usually limited space and availabilty.
Many Churches in the community usually hold a week long events during the summer called VBS ( Vacation Bible School). Most programs usually consist of a week-long structured classes of religious education which may employ Bible stories, religious song, arts and crafts, skits, or puppet shows that cater to elementary school-aged- Teen age children and some extend to Young Adults as well. Most churches provide VBS programs at NO COST to those attending. Some churches, however, may charge a nominal fee for the program. Reach out to your local churches for their specific terms. The banners are posted all over your city if you haven’t noticed them. Just look…

The Good Ol’ Library is definitely the Place to be during the Summer! Most Libraries offer Summer Reading Events, Story Telling, Movies, etc. This is all in addition to having access to Books, Movies, Music, & other media at no cost. This option is one of my most recommend because it helps your child to engage in keeping their brains active during the summer.
Those of us who live in areas that see High temperatures during the summer have a Water Park or two in the neighborhood. Typically after a certain time of day (like 4 PM in my hood) the Entry Fee is discounted by as much as 50%. The good thing about that is it doesn’t get dark until about 8:45 so there is plenty of daylight time left to enjoy the park, and ad a significant discount.
Many communities have locations that offer a FREE Lunch Program for Kids & Teens. This is a wonderful program for people who may see a hardship financially during the summer months due to increased grocery bills because the kids are home and eating more meals than during the school year when they would normally have lunch and snack st school.
Another great Benefit of the program is that it ensures children will continue to receive nutritious meals, even when school is not in session. These are Free meals, that meet Federal nutrition guidelines, & are provided to all children 18 years old and under. In my experience they are often offered a local recreation and/ or community centers that also have play structures and areas for the kids to get out and have some play time as well.
Season Pass Payment Plans to Amusement Parks! Ok, So we ALL love going to Amusement Parks during the HOT Summer months for some fun in the sun! On average you are paying about $65 per person for admittance to these venues. To Offset that cost for people who tend to go often most facilities offer a summer pass that gives you unlimited access to the park for one fee which typically pays for itself after 1-2 visits.
To see even more of a financial benefit, some Amusement Park Chains offer a Payment Plan for their Sean Pass. Meaning they take the total fee for the park and break the payments up into monthly payments that are automatically deducted from your checking account. So you pay a low amount like $8 or so each month, but have your Pass in Hand to visit the park for the entire season and payments are being made as you go! I was so happy to learn about this! See some Participating Theme Parks:
I Hope this guide will help you all maximize on the summer and all it has to offer! I post EVENT Deals quite often and I only limited this post to 10 suggestions, as to not overwhelm you. There is so much more so make sure you check the site often and share if you find something people can benefit from.
